Warwick SU Society Award Winners

The Societies Awards evening was held on Thursday 26 June to celebrate the amazing achievements of the society execs over the course of the year. And the winners are:

Society of the Year: PPE Society

Attract some of the most high-profile speakers campus has ever seen; a society that even with these big headlines cares about its members so much that it runs a mentor scheme for them, it runs an Erasmus buddy scheme to keep students connected who have gone on years abroad; and it runs a Professional Mentoring Scheme, pairing current students with recent PPE alumni and professionals. In order to attract postgraduate members to their society they worked with Warwick Consulting Society on a project to find out exactly what it is that hinders postgraduate engagement with their society at the moment. This also gave an opportunity for the Consulting Society to practice their consulting skills on a live project.

Most Improved Society: Warwick ACS

ACS have had an extraordinary year, tripling their membership and putting on some of the most spectacular society events. They’ve exemplified the strong sense of community and have showcased their many talents across a range of events, as well as running one of the most successful and vibrant society balls of the year.

This year they produced and performed a stunning rendition Sweeney Todd in the Arts Centre – this is one of the most technically challenging productions the Arts Centre has ever accommodated. Best Society Event: Warwick ACS – AfroFEST

ACS’ AfroFEST – a production of dance, music, drama and comedy carrying the audience through a journey exploring black history, highlighting the plights and successes from pivotal men and women who gave their lives to fight for equality. The standard of the performance was astonishing; as was their organisation and ability to pull off one of the most visually stunning society events in our societies history. As our Promotions Manager said “Not only is the ACS jammed-full with some of the most talented individuals I have ever encountered at Warwick, their vision, organisation and delivery of AfroFEST was second-to-none. In my time at Warwick SU, working with the ACS on AfroFEST has been the most worthwhile and rewarding experience.”
