Statute 24 update - September 2018

Update - September 2018

I would like to update colleagues on progress with the discussions around the reform of Statute 24 – and to let you know of the intention that there should be a meeting of the Assembly to discuss this on 10 October immediately before or after the all-staff meeting. Since my last message on this topic in July, there has been (as promised) a further series of discussions with the campus trades unions around the proposed changes. Thus far, we have had four meetings and as a result, a number of revisions to the policies, the statute and the ordinances have been agreed. There is at least one further meeting scheduled and this will take place week commencing 24 September.

While the revised version of Statute 24 and the proposed changes (including the new ordinance) would apply specifically to academic staff, the common policy framework and the revised policy documents are relevant to everyone, and all members of staff are welcome to join the Assembly discussions. A formal notice for the Assembly will follow but for now you might just wish to hold this date in your diary.

And if you still want to provide individual feedback on the proposed reforms, full details of the July consultation are still available.
