Success story: Triathlon & Road Cycling

bucs_cycle2013 ended with success all round for Warwick Triathlon

Competitors and spectators gathered at the BUCS sprint duathlon to witness 9 athletes from Warwick Triathlon performing at an all time high.

Despite the chilly 5 degree temperatures the boys set off first around the course and came back into transition in super fast timing before setting off in true Time-Trial style on the bike for 5 laps of the course. But the quick bike splits didn't tire them out for the final run and in barely 47:26 min our very own Andrew Rogers came flying in followed closely by Zac Pywell, Pascal Dick, Matthew Taylor and Jason Piper. The boys team came a very respectable 36th out of 101 universities that competed in a very strong Amateur and Elite field.

The girls then set off at full speed to show the Performance Sport Universities what they were made of. Charlotte Taylor was already in the lead after the first run and maintained her winning position right until the end to win GOLD. Eloise Du Luart then speedily came along in 6th place followed closely by Natacha Lee and Rhian Male. The girls as a team won Silver medal, placing them above most of the Triathlon Performance Centres/Olympic training base universities.

The team had a really great day out and high spirits alongside a great crowd of supporters kept the cold away. Well done to everyone who raced and well done to Warwick Triathlon for a briliant turnout and a brilliant performance.
