Teaching Excellence: Nominate Now

The 2013/14 Teaching Excellence award scheme is coming to a close for both staff (WATE) and postgraduate research students (WATEPGR). The awards recognise and celebrate those who demonstrate excellence in teaching and/or supporting learning to create an excellent student experience.

Make a Real Difference

Winning, being commended or nominated will make a real difference.

  • For the Postgraduate student it greatly enhances their CV and future career prospects. If you are an undergraduate student, don’t forget that in a few years’ time this could be you.
  • For academic staff it provides valuable recognition of their enthusiasm and devotion to teaching, provides a platform for building further success in their career. Teachers need feedback too.
  • For staff who do not directly teach but support student learning, this is an opportunity for their efforts to be recognised and rewarded.

Eligibility

WATE
All staff who teach or support student learning at Warwick are eligible to be nominated for an award. Nominees can be part-time, non-permanent or sessional members of staff, including visiting academics and postdocs. Those who do not have traditional teaching responsibilities are encouraged to place the emphasis on opportunities in their role to engage with the criteria of the awards.

WATEPGR
All Postgraduate research students who teach and Teaching Assistants who are within twelve months of completing their PhD are eligible to be nominated for an award.

Nominations can be made by both staff and students.

Qualities

Awards will be given to teachers who motivate, inspire and engage students through their teaching.
By showing exceptional support within the learning environment, this can include facilitating seminars, demonstrating and projects supervision and recognising diverse student needs and provide a positive student learning experience.

Deadline

All nominations must be received by Tuesday 18 March.
