WMG Academy for Young Engineers taster event

wmgWould you like to know what it's like to be a student at the WMG Academy for Young Engineers? Come to our taster event on Saturday 23 November 2013.

A bit like an open day, prospective students and parents/carers can come along to our Taster Event to find out more about our new school, meet our Principal and some of the businesses like Jaguar Land Rover and Prodrive who you will get a chance to work with at the Academy.

There will be some exciting interactive exhibitions from our partner companies, you can also have an exclusive look inside WMG – part of the University of Warwick - and see what the student researchers and academics are working on. There’ll also be a chance to experience a lesson WMG Academy-style, and find out how different learning will be at the Academy compared to other schools.

Who should attend?

This event is for prospective students of the Academy. So, if you are going into year 10 or 12 in September 2014 and live in Coventry, Warwickshire or Solihull then you are eligible to apply to attend the WMG Academy. (You can bring your parents/carers and brothers and sisters too – even your teachers!)

What to expect on the day.

The day has been structured so that you can pop in either morning or afternoon or stay for the whole day. Running from 10am until 4pm there’ll be interactive exhibitions from our partner companies, tours around WMG's engineering facilities, people to talk to about what the school will be like and the chance to try one a sample lesson. You'll be able to talk to people working in engineering and some of the university's student engineers too.

Where and when?

The event takes place on Saturday 23 November at the International Digital Laboratory at the University of Warwick. We’re still working on plans for our brand new school, so we can’t take you there, BUT when you are a student at the Academy you’ll also spend time studying at the University too – so we thought we’d show you that.

We’ll be open from 10.00 am until 4.00pm so pop in anytime throughout the day and stay as long as you want.

The International Digital Lab is on the University Campus - it's building 25 on this downloadable map: campus map. Car parks 15, 8 and 8a are the nearest car parks to the venue.

Do I need to book?

You can register to attend the event online. Our last event was very busy so, whilst you are welcome to just pop in on the day, we'd love to know in advance if you are planning to visit.
