James Lockwood wins inaugural climbing competition
Undergraduate James Lockwood has won the inaugural Simon Turner-Bottomley Climbing Competition for first-year students, which took place at the Bear Rock Climbing Centre in June 2012.
Seven competitors took part supported by around twenty enthusiastic spectators and the competition ended with a nail-biting 'climb off' for first place between James Lockwood and Charles Greenspon. James Lockwood 'topped out' making him the eventual winner of the Simon Turner-Bottomley Prize, including prize money of £150 to be spent on furthering his interest in climbing.
The prize money was generously donated by the Simon Turner-Bottomley Trust and we were delighted that Marolyn Turner-Bottomley (Chair of the Trustees) was able to attend the event.
