Counselling Service book launch

Book coverOn 10 March, Student Services hosted a book launch for the University’s Counselling Service. The book, Self Awareness and Personal Development: Resources for psychotherapists and counsellors was edited by Clinical Supervisor, Chris Rose.

Chris has worked in the Counselling Service for seven years and her work with the department is reflected in the book. Chris worked with six other authors to consider self and growth, using in particular her experience of group therapy to open up the metaphor of the self as, not unitary, but multiple, group-like. Chris also published The Personal Development Group in 2008.

Counsellor Richard Worsley also contributed to the book, writing on Developing through Transcendence and co-authoring Thinking about the Self.

Richard said: “It is crucial to our commitment as a University Counselling Service that we engage personally and academically with our therapeutic specialisms. We need to explore and extend the knowledge base from which we work if the service is to continue to be a fertile and valuable asset to the University alongside other colleagues from Student Services.”
