Vivienne Rees and Andrea Walters Attend Queen's Garden Party

Vivienne Rees from the Estates Office and Andrea Walters from the Telecommunications Office, IT Services were selected by the University as this year’s representatives at the Queen’s garden party in recognition of the many years of service (35 and 40 years respectively) they have given to Warwick.

Both Vivienne and Andrea were allowed to take a partner with them and were driven to and from the event by the Vice Chancellor’s driver, in the official car.

Andrea said: “Vivienne and I, along with our partners, decided to make the most of the day by treating ourselves to lunch at the Ritz. Following this we then walked through the park to the palace and entered through the main gates, feeling very important!”

During the event, they had the opportunity to see the Queen, Prince Phillip and other members of the Royal Family emerge from Buckingham Palace to the sound of the national anthem. Not letting the rain spoil the day, Vivienne and Andrea went for a pleasant walk around the royal gardens, enjoyed the finger food on offer, and took the chance to catch a glimpse of the Royal party.

Andrea added: “I was also lucky to be in the ‘right place at the right time’ and shook hands with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, who spoke briefly to me and told me to “Enjoy your day”.

Vivienne said: “We had a wonderful day. I can't think of a better way to celebrate 35 years at Warwick, and would like to thank the University for giving me the opportunity to attend.”
