MOAC Student Daniel Bearup wins Research Video Competition

MOAC student Daniel Bearup has been announced as the winner of the first PhD Research Video Competition held jointly with Queensland University of Technology, Australia for his exceptional animation describing antibiotic research.

The competition asked postgraduate students to make a 5-minute video explaining their research to an audience of year 12 and 13 pupils, and produced an outstanding selection of entries. A panel of academics, PhD students from QUT and a cohort of pupils from three local schools in Warwickshire judged the shortlisted videos.

Daniel now has the opportunity to present at a conference in Brisbane, where he can showcase his research developing new antibiotics by investigating the biosynthetic pathway involved in producing peptidoglycan.

MOAC is also now looking forward to welcoming Nicole White, the winning student from QUT whose research involves a statistical approach to combatting Parkinson's disease, who will be joining the Warwick community for a short time in May.
