My Warwick Life: Mushana Mkushi

Mushana_MkushiThe My Warwick Life feature gives an insight into staff and students’ lives at Warwick, considering both their work and social life on campus. This week we hear from Mushana Mkushi, Life Sciences student.

I chose to study at Warwick because..

when I came to visit I really liked the campus. I'm studying medical microbiology and virology in the Life Sciences department. liked the course structure and facilities in my department.

After finishing my degree at Warwick, I’d like to...

grow my organic skin care company, and see the world while I do it!

On a typical day, you’ll find me...

starting in the library to do some work, meeting friends for lunch in the Student's Union and finally in the Arts Centre watching a show, a film or playing piano in the practice rooms.

I’m really glad I got involved with...

so many societies. During my time here I have been in eight different societies. I have met people I wouldn't have otherwise come across in my department and has opened up a lot of opportunities to explore my talents. Warwick has such a diverse student body and so there's always a lot going on to get involved with.

It would be really useful to work more closely with...

academic tutors. It took me a while into my studies to use the academic support available to me. They are here to help us get the most out of our degrees and they know what they are talking about because they have seen thousands of students do it previous years.

I recently attended an event with...

Warwick Business School. It was an entrepreneur's event and was so informative and an amazing opportunity to network!

I’m really enjoying working on...

my final year project. It involves going into schools and interacting with the local community outside of the university.

I recently learnt that...

the library has netbooks we can take out on loan.

I’ve only just realised that...

the Arts Centre is the best music venue in the Midlands.

The best thing about studying at Warwick is…

having so many different people all in one place. There are so many opportunities to engage with cultures I wouldn't have been exposed to.
My course has a lot of contact time so I have gotten to know my course mates well and we have a lot of fun together.

If I could change one thing at the University, it would be...

the long walk up hill to the Life Sciences department and Medical School from main campus.

I recently watched Elektro -kif at the Arts Centre and...

it was amazing! It was a street and contemporary dance show, and it's hard to believe how much energy can pour out of seven people for an hour and a half on stage.

I recently had a meal at...

The Duck where I met some coursemates for dinner, followed by cocktails in the Terrace Bar. I love the chilled atmosphere of the SU.

I usually travel to campus by...

The U1 bus from Leamington.
