Janet Jones, Administrative Officer in the Department of Biological Sciences, has been elected as Chairman of the Coventry Bench of Magistrates for 2003.

Janet was appointed to the Bench in 1979. Thanks to the University’s policy on allowing paid time for magisterial duties, she has been able to take a full part in the activities of the Bench. She would like to take this opportunity to remind University staff that the Bench is always looking for people prepared to put themselves forward to take on these duties. The Lord Chancellor is keen that all groups in the local community should be represented. At present, the Coventry Bench needs to attract those from the younger age groups and those from ethnic minorities.
