Professor Andrew Pettigrew of the Warwick Business School (WBS) was presented with the Distinguished Scholar Award at the annual meeting of the US Academy of Management in Denver, Colorado. The award for "significant scholarly contributions that have advanced management knowledge and practice" is seen as recognition of a lifetime's work rather than an acknowledgement of one particular piece of work. Andrew said the award "was a notable occasion for [him] personally but has a wider significance for WBS and indeed for all management researchers in Europe. This is the 20th year of the award, but the first occasion that it has been made to a European scholar."
