Dr Phillipa Sherrington, of the Department of Politics and International Studies, has been awarded HEFCE funding for a collaborative project testing a US-designed method of directly engaged teaching. The money, shared with colleagues at Coventry and Oxford Brookes, will be used to set up a ‘Fund for the Development of Teaching and Learning’ and study ‘The Scholarship of Engagement for Politics’.

The study will be carried out in the Politics departments of the three partner institutions and at Sheffield and Southampton universities. The aim is to develop the teaching of ‘governance’ to undergraduates in real world settings such as community groups and European networks.
