Brief Encounter - Liz Warner

Brief Encounter with Liz Warner Liz Warner is based in the Director's Office at the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth. NAGTY was established by the government in 2002 and its remit is to improve educational provision for gifted and talented young people up to the age of 19 years.

Position
Administrative Officer attached to the Director’s Office at NAGTY.

Which means?
I provide ongoing project support for the Director of the Academy in relation to her work.

Favourite phrase/s
Anything followed by ‘sweety!’

Least favourite phrase
I have lots of these but two in particular are ‘singing from the same songsheet’ and ‘Doh’ said in the Homer Simpson styley!

Heat, Glamour and of course more heavy weight publications like Marie Claire.

Life before Warwick
8 years at the OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examination Board).

Smartest career move
Not sure I have achieved that yet.

Best thing about working at Warwick
The people.

Worst thing about working at Warwick?
Crawling along Gibbet Hill Road in my car at 4pm every Friday. Explaining to people that the University isn’t actually in Warwick.

Lifelong ambition
To be in very close proximity to very big cats like lions and tigers!

People are always surprised to learn this about me, but?
I’m only 21.

As a young child, what did you want to be as a 'grown-up'?
Happy.

Now that you are a grown-up, what would be your 'dream job'?
Something creative like a writer or actress…well it’s good to dream!!

What has life's experience taught you so far?
That life is very short and precious and you should make the most of it.

Major achievement to date?
Mace bearer at this years degree congregation.

What do you treasure most?
My family, friends and two cats.

Any hidden talents?
None that I wish to share with everyone.

If you could change one thing in the University overnight, what would it be?
The parking!

Which person inspires you most, and why?
My Dad for his encouragement and belief in young people and for always standing up for what he believed in, even if it didn’t always make him popular.

Your all-time favourite record or piece of music?
Too many to mention but three of the best are Fools Gold by The Stone Roses, Stan by Eminem and Copacabana by Barry Manilow.

Your favourite hobby or pastime?
Ashtanga Yoga when I am feeling energetic, gardening and reality TV.
