Trevor Hawkes is based in Mathematics and is currently working on a computer-aided assessment project. As an Emeritus Reader in Mathematics, he also undertakes some teaching within the Dept, along with consulting for eLab.

Its ever-growing bureaucracy constrained by over-regulation from outside.

Lifelong ambition:
To stay alive at least until my children have left home (the youngest is now 3).

People are always surprised to learn this about me but:
I was near the bottom of the mathematics class at school.

As a young child what did you want to be as a "grown-up"?
Farm machinery designer.

Now that you are grown-up what would be your "dream job"?
A very big budget to create cheeky electronic games to make learning fun.

What has life's experience taught you so far?
A naïve and foolish optimism makes it all bearable.

Any hidden talents?
Telling people what to do.

Which person inspires you most, and why?
My wife. She keeps my eye on the ball.
