Rosie Drinkwater appointed as Finance Director

Rosie DrinkwaterWith effect from 2 May 2006, Rosie Drinkwater has been appointed as the University's Finance Director. Rosie has held the post of Acting Finance Director since the departure of James Hunt in February 2005, combining it with her duties as Deputy Finance Director.

Rosie has responsibility for the preparation of the University's five year plan, the statutory accounts, the management accounts, tax compliance and planning and all financial information. She is also one of five members of the Executive Management Group - the senior management team - and a Senior Officer of the University.

Rosie first came to Warwick in October 1993 when she was appointed as Senior Assistant Finance Officer with specific responsibility for the University's Earned Income Group. Before that she worked at senior management level at the accountancy firms Grant Thornton and Price Waterhouse. She is a graduate of St Mary's College, Durham (Mathematics & Economics).

Rosie is married to Andy and is a mother of three: Caroline (8), James (6) and Alex (almost 4). Her interests are chocolate and cake in every combination!

About the Finance Office

The Finance Office comprises over 70 people, including fully qualified accountants, purchasing and IT specialists, accounting technicians and processing clerks. Some Finance staff are based in departments and they also report to the Finance Director. The Department includes the centralised functions of accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash collection, treasury management, purchasing and insurance, VAT and Corporation tax, as well as the group reporting function and the financial reporting teams. The SAP finance team reports to both Finance and IT services.

The Role of the Finance Office

The Finance Office is responsible for the processing of sales and purchase transactions, the collection and payment of money, the preparation of business plans, the monitoring of budgets, the planning and preparation of statutory returns including HESA, and functions that include treasury, purchasing, insurance, grant claims and tax compliance.
