Professor Nigel Thrift - Science and Technology in Society Forum

Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Thrift is this week attending the Science and Technology in Society forum in Kyoto, Japan.

An invitation only event, the forum is the largest annual one of its kind and Professor Thrift is the only British Vice-Chancellor in attendance.

A number of breakout sessions at the event will focus on the role of universities in science and technology. They include a session on research universities’ collaboration with industry and another on the role of universities in the 21st century and the global good practices we should learn from.

The Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum holds its annual meeting from the first Sunday in October every year, in Kyoto, creating a global human network based on trust and providing a framework for open discussions regarding the further progress of science and technology for the sake of humankind while controlling ethical, safety and environmental issues resulting from it.
