Robert Dyson to Retire

Robert Dyson, Professor of Operational Research at Warwick Business School (WBS) is to retire at the end of the year.

Professor Dyson began his career at Warwick in 1970 as a lecturer in Operational Research at WBS. He became Chairman of the Business School in 1978 and was appointed as Dean in 1998. He has served two six-year appointments as a Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) with responsibilities including academic policy and quality, regional strategy, community engagement, lifelong learning, widening participation and equal opportunities. He has served as President of the Operational Research Society and is an editor of the European Journal of Operational Research.

During his time at Warwick, he has received numerous awards and fellowships, this year being elected a Companion of O.R. by the Board of the Operational Research Society for sustained support and encouragement for the development of Operational Research.

Professor Dyson said: “It has been highy rewarding to have been able to play a part in the development of WBS and the University at large throughout my career here. I have particularly valued the friendships I have made both at the University and in the international operational research community.”
