Steph WongsamPosition: Societies and Student Development Officer

Which means: I oversee the 185+ societies we have here at Warwick, support and advise society execs, and promote student development opportunities.

Favourite phrase: 'Everything happens for a reason.'

Least favourite phrase: 'No, you can't do that'.

Magazines read: The Economist, The Psychologist, Cosmopolitan.

Life before Warwick: Grew up in Birmingham, did GCSE’s and A Levels, did lots and lots of music things.

Smartest career move: Getting involved in the Students' Union.

Best thing about working at Warwick: The beautiful campus, the variety of things to do and all the opportunities to develop yourself personally and academically.

Worst thing about working at Warwick:
Limited car parking spaces.

Lifelong ambition: To travel the world.

People are always surprised to learn this about me, but... I have Chinese and Indian heritage.

As a young child what did you want to be as a "grown-up"? A private detective.

Now that you are grown-up what would be your "dream job"? Something where I can meet lots of people and make a difference in the world.

What has life's experience taught you so far? The importance of being sincere, polite and helping others when they are in need. Also, life is what you make it.

Major achievement to date? Grade 8 distinction on the cello.

What do you treasure most? Friends and family.

If you could change one thing in the University overnight, what would it be? Better food provision on a Sunday night.

Your all-time favourite record or piece of music? Aicha by Khaled and Easy by Lionel Richie.
