University superheroes race for charity

Nearly 3,000 runners passed through campus on Sunday 21 October as they took part in the third Lady Godiva Half Marathon. A number of staff and students ran the 13.1 mile race to raise money for charity including Warwick’s own Batman and Robin aka Tom Reed, a fourth year Engineering Student and Dan Border, a second year Medical student and resident tutor in Rootes.

Dan (aka Robin) said, “We are perhaps two of the most unfit people in the country, but we managed to complete the half-marathon in our superhero costumes in just over 2 hours. We raised lots of money and awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association - a charity close to my heart as my stepfather has Mothor Neurone Disease.”

Tom (aka Batman) is a fourth year Engineering Student who will complete his MEng at the end of this year. He added “Although the marathon is now over we are still keen to raise as much money as possible”.

The pair were running in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association and have so far raised their target amount of £500. To sponsor the pair on the completion of the marathon, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/fatboys
