Warwick chef helps combat hunger in South Africa

University of Warwick chef, Graham Crump, has just returned from South Africa, where he took part in a charity cook-off which raised £800,000 to combatGraham Crump hunger amongst the country’s poorest people.

Graham, who works at Warwick Conferences, was one of 250 chefs from 44 countries taking part in the Bidvest World Chefs Tour Against Hunger 2011. Together with five other chefs making up Team England, Graham took part in cookery demonstrations, food festivals and feeding schemes in orphanages and schools.

Graham is featured in the Coventry Telegraph, where he said:

I’m honoured to have been part of such a momentous experience and thrilled with how much money we collectively raised. It was a really exhausting ten days, both physically and emotionally, but I would do it all over again. Warwick University as a whole has a particular focus on working with Africa and already works closely with African schools to support mathematics education over there. We were delighted to be able to make our own contribution.
