Professor Wyn Grant, Politics and International Studies, has become an Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences through the support of the Political Studies Association. The Political Studies Association nominated Professor Grant on account of the work he has done to cross interdisciplinary boundaries, including his recent development of work between Politics and International Studies and Life Sciences.

Professor Steve Hindle, Department History, has also been made an Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences. The Academy's Academicians are "distinguished scholars and practitioners" in the field of social sciences, who are recognised as having made "a significant contribution to Social Science and its promotion".
