Mead Gallery exhibition receives a Global Fine Art Award nomination

artThe exhibition Uncommon Ground, held at the Mead Gallery in Spring 2014 has received a Global Fine Art Award (GFAA) nomination.

The GFAA programme honours those who create exhibitions that exemplify innovation in design, historical context, educational value, and public appeal. It aims to develop interest and passion for fine art, and further its educational role in society.

Uncommon Ground is the most comprehensive exhibition of British Land Art to date. Featuring the work of 24 of some of the most important artists and artist groups working in the UK between the mid-1960s and late-1970s, the exhibition demonstrates how the term ‘Landscape’ was questioned and transformed by artists during this period to become the ground for radical artistic experiment.

A total of 26 exhibitions have been nominated for six awards. Other nominated exhibitions include Hiroshi Sugimoto at the Palais de Tokyo Paris, France; El Greco's Library at the Museo del Prado, Spain; Lost Kingdoms at the Metropolitan Museum of Art USA and Jaume Plensa at Seattle Art Museum, USA.
