In Memoriam: Brenda Wilson

It is with sadness that the University reports the death of Brenda Wilson, a member of the University’s Cleaning Services team for 25 years until her retirement in 2014. Brenda died suddenly while on holiday in Spain on the 21st of September. She had taken the opportunity in her too short retirement to enjoy travelling, including an extended trip to Australia to visit her grand-daughter. Over the years, Brenda worked, and made many good friends, in several departments across campus. The Arts Centre’s Director Alan Rivett said:

Brenda had a personality which was impossible to ignore. She worked tirelessly for Warwick Arts Centre as part of a team dedicated to our audiences, artists and staff, making the place we all work in clean and safe. However, Brenda did much more than this. She embraced the ethos of community and was a regular and discerning member or our audience too. If Brenda had an opinion, sooner or later everyone knew what she was thinking. We will all miss Brenda and her unshakable passion for all things Norfolk!"

Cleaning Services Manager Clive Paynton said:

Brenda was a long serving and a very valued member of the cleaning team always helpful and cheerful in her varied cleaning duties at the Arts Centre. Brenda made many long-term friends and always had a good story to tell. She will be sadly missed by all at Estates Cleaning Services."

Brenda’s funeral will be at Canley Crematorium on Thursday 15 October at 2.15pm. The family has requested flowers from the family only, donations to the British Heart Foundation will be taken at the service.
