Professor Tim Jones appointed to EPSRC council

Congratulations to Professor Tim Jones, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Science, Engineering and Medicine, on his appointment to the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The EPSRC is the largest external funder of research at the University, and Warwick is one of their 12 framework universities.

At Warwick Tim provides the academic leadership in Science, Engineering and Medicine for departmental development and improvement, research and impact strategy and policy, as well as promoting interfaculty and interdisciplinary developments. He is also responsible for the University's Global Research Priorities (GRPs) and Research Technology Platforms (RTPs), and for developing institutional strategies and policies for open access publication and research data management. He was the institutional lead for the submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF2014).

Tim also leads a number of strategic initiatives and partnerships, for example Warwick's involvement in; the New York based Centre for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP), a collaboration between a number of universities, businesses and the city agencies; the newly established Alan Turing Institute (ATI), a national initiative in Big Data and Data Science involving five leading UK universities; and the M5 Regional Consortium of Midlands based Universities that promotes more effective equipment sharing and research collaboration.
