6.00 pm Registration – Warwick Manufacturing Group Reception
6.30 pm Seminar Introduction – Katy Miranda, a WMCCM member, owns and runs Budding Design a successful, local graphic design agency.
6.40 pm Setting up a business – what might it be like?’ – Jan Scrine has a background in engineering and manufacturing and has worked independently since the early 1990s.  She has set up several businesses and is currently developing a BA in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship for the Mercia Institute of Enterprise.  Jan will share her experiences and has developed an interactive case study to illustrate what it might really be like to set up your own business.  She will also outline the support available through the Mercia Institute of Enterprise.
7.20 pm ‘The Unfair Advantage’ – Marla Nelson is the Assistant Director of the Women’s Business Development Agency (WBDA).  WBDA, together with the Universities, are piloting a model in the West Midlands to establish women friendly incubators – supporting and encouraging women into Science, Engineering & Technology (SET) based enterprise.  This presentation will focus on the women only, FREE, intensive training and mentoring programmes available to YOU.
7.40 pm West Midlands Collaborative Commerce Marketplace – The internet is an important marketing and sales channel for any business. Jay Bal will discuss some of the pitfalls and demonstrate WMCCM, a FREE on-line marketplace designed to assist businesses in the region to realise their e-business potential.  A live demonstration will illustrate its unique functionality in providing access to new business opportunities with all of the tools required to build and sustain a new business venture.
