Phil O'Donovan, Commercial Director of Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR), was its first CEO and cofounded the company in 1999 with a group of colleagues from Cambridge Consultants. CSR is now the Bluetooth market leader and floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2004.

Phil holds a BSc in engineering science from Warwick University and an MSc in communications engineering from Birmingham University, along with a PhD in optical character recognition from the University of Essex. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and a Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Gold Medal winner and was a research fellow at AERE Harwell and later, chief research engineer at ITT's Standard Telecommunications Laboratory before joining Cambridge Consultants in 1991.

He was appointed Vice President of Telecommunications at CCL and in 1997 he was a co founding director of Contactica, the mobile telecoms infrastructure consulting company. He has served on the advisory boards of a number of Cambridge companies and is a Partnership Board member of The Greater Cambridge Partnership. He is also an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning.
