Mentoring is increasingly being identified as a valuable process for enhancing learning and development but people are often asked to take on the role before being offered any training. This day school offers an orientation to key concepts, models, skills and issues which will help you decide if this is a role you would like to develop and/or where you might seek further support and training.

Aims of the day

• To compare and contrast different approaches to mentoring
• To debate the merits and limitations of the mentoring relationship
• To explore boundaries and ethical issues
• To identify areas for development of skills, attributes, knowledge and understanding
• To explore the application of these areas in relevant personal and professional contexts and opportunities for further training and development.
