Postgraduate Research Poster Day 2006

Explaining the real world implications of research projects

Date: Tuesday 23 May 2.00 – 4.30pm

Venue: University House Atrium

The Postgraduate Research Poster Day will showcase the research of forty postgraduates drawn from disciplines across the University including the natural and physical sciences, engineering, medicine, business, social science and education. The researchers exhibiting at the event will present their research for a general audience.

The competition opens at 2pm with the prize ceremony at 4pm. However, visitors are welcome to attend from 1pm onwards.

This is a high profile event which will be running annually. There are a number of departments and students involved. These include:

Physics: Magnetic Refrigeration; an attractive way to cool.

Medical School: Developing the Nursing Pre-travel Health Consultation.

School of Health and Social Studies: Gender, Disability and Islam: A Case Study of Visual Impairment in Bahrain.

Italian: E-learning support for the development of writing skills: towards a socio-interactive approach: The case of Italian as a foreign language.

Engineering: Jet Noise: Not just hearing it, but seeing it!

Biological Sciences: Improving IVF success rates through measurement of telomere lengths in embryos.

MOAC: Taking the fight to the superbugs - searching for new antibiotics.
