Catalan situation "more uncertain" as Spain celebrates its National Day

Spain's royal family has attended a National Day military parade amid a political crisis sparked by Catalonia's disputed independence referendum.

Prof Richard Youngs, comments: “The situation is even more uncertain now.

"There is more talk of dialogue and constitutional reform, but both sides are trying to shift the ball into the other's court.

"There is still a chance that the government will invoke the constitution to assume full control of Catalonia, which would move the conflict up several notches."
