Female obesity – the food industry needs to take action

"The recommendations of the recent report from the House of Commons Health Select Committee on Childhood Obesity stresses the role of the food industry in generating an obesogenic environment and the importance of Government action particularly on sugar.

"There are obesity is much higher among low income families and, as the House of Commons report points out, contributes significantly to inequalities in child and adult health.

"Sally Davies's comments tend to focus on actions individual women can take which the report points out are inadequate given the huge pressure from the food industry to eat sugary junk."
