"It was clear from the heavily produced Oscar nomination videos that proceeded the nominations that the Oscars will engage with the #Metoo movement.

"Women were featured in the vignettes and there were nominations that seemed to emerge from #metoo and the #oscarssowhite controversy of the last few years, such as the first female nominated for Best Cinematography in the 90 year history (Rachel Morrison), Christopher Plumber's surprise nomination for his performance in All the Money in the World after replacing Kevin Spacey, the numerous nominations for Jordan Peele's Get Out, and Greta Gerwig nominated for Best Director.

"But, it may be Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri that becomes the film that most connects to the burgeoning #metoo movement and find success at a ceremony that will want to celebrate women and avoid any controversies, especially the unfolding sexual harassment controversies that have overwhelmed Hollywood in the last six months and the Best Picture debacle from last year's ceremony."
