Professor Steve Fuller comments on the 'monkey selfie' judgement

"It's interesting that the photographer David Slater stressed the effort he took to get Naruto to take the selfie as grounds for his retaining copyright over it. To the ears of animal rights activists, that sounds like an employer who claims ownership over his employees’ labour because he took the effort to set up the business for which they work. When only humans are involved, that’s called exploitation. Why not extend the same concept to animals?"
