In Memoriam: Councillor Phil Townshend

The University is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Coventry City Council's Deputy Leader Councillor Phil Townshend.

Warwick's Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Nigel Thrift said;

"The death of Councillor Phil Townshend is a great loss to our city. He helped bring together many effective and significant partnerships between the city and a range of organisations including the cities two universities. He will be greatly missed."

WMG Chairman Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya added;

“I am saddened to hear the news about Cllr Townsend. He was very instrumental in the development of the University relationship with the City. Over the years he has helped WMG and lately assisted in the search for expansion plans for Jaguar Land Rover.”
