University Trains Campus Cleaner to Spot Archaeological Sites on Campus

University of Warwick cleaner Trudy Wiles would normally expect her university training to revolve around how better to clean student flats but amazingly the University is training her in how to spot and excavate the many archaeological sites on its campus.
Trudy, from Delaware Road, Styvechale, was one of over 500 staff who took up the University's offer to pay for any member of the its clerical, manual or technical staff who wished to take up one of the many short courses offered by the University's Sports Centre, Language Centre, Open Studies Department, and Music Centre.
Staggeringly 549 of the 1700 eligible staff took up the offer (295 clerical staff, 185 manual staff and 69 technical grade staff). Seven of the clerical staff even took used the scheme to take courses that would start them along the path to a full blown degree!
The scheme was such a success that it will be repeated in the coming academic year starting in October. Any member of the public wishing details on the new Open Studies programme should call the Open Studies Office on 024 76 523831.
