The University of Warwick's Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations has just received a grant of 20,000 US dollars from the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Washington DC to mount a special conference bringing together many of leading European and US migration specialists to improve the understanding of migration patterns in Europe as a continent . With the EU about to extend further eastwards in the next few years such an understanding of current and potential population movements will be crucial.

The British Council has also contributed 2440 pounds sterling to the event to support the participation in the conference of some leading Polish specialists in this field.

The Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations conference entitled "In search for a new Europe: contrasting migratory experiences", will be organised in co-operation with the Centre for Migration Research of Warsaw University and will take place at the University of Warwick on 22-24th March 2002.
