The University of Warwick has agreed to supply Coventry Fitness instructor Gayle Vickers with much of the funding she needs to take up her dream opportunity of being selected for the England Lacrosse in a series of test matches in Australia.

She will join the England Lacrosse squad in a tour to Australia (Perth, Melbourne and Sydney) between the dates of July 5th – July 28th 2004. This tour involves playing matches against Australian Clubs and Colleges, but most importantly representing England in test matches against Australia. Further selection from this tour will lead to representing England in the 2005 World Cup in Baltimore, USA.

Gayle, a graduate of the University of Warwick and a full time fitness instructor in the University’s Sports Centre, will use the support from the University to attend weekly and weekend training sessions (commuting from Warwick to London), pay for tour kit and uniform and also fund the cost of the flights and accommodation whilst in Australia. At present the quoted price for the flights alone is £1500.

The university has generously provided a significant part of the funding she needs but she is still looking for funding to cover her total costs. Anyone wishing to help should contact Terry Monnington in the University of Warwick Sports Centre on 024 765 24639.
