The University of Warwick has gained yet another feather in it’s cap as the Institute of Education achieves 4th position in a new league table of teacher training institutions in the UK, based on independent analysis of the latest figures from the Teacher Training Agency (TTA).

The rankings based on the qualifications of trainee teachers, Ofsted ratings and employment statistics places Warwick as 4th in the UK for secondary teaching and 5th in the UK for primary teaching, showing it to be a real credit to the education sector.

Dr Janet Ainley, Deputy Director of the University of Warwick’s Institute of Education, said: “Warwick’s Institute of Education has gained a high place in the league table because of the high quality of our trainees, excellent Ofsted rating and excellent record in employment returns.”

Warwick’s Institute of Education has over 600 students on Initial Teacher Education courses and a further 300 following postgraduate and Continuing Professional Development courses.

Researchers from University of Liverpool analysed the data from the TTA to also reveal that half of all people now joining the profession are now aged 25 or over.
