Double Innovation Award for the University of Warwick

The University of Warwick has received a double accolade for its work promoting innovation n partnership with industry by winning not one but two Lord Stafford Awards.

The Lord Stafford Awards exist to recognise and encourage the development of collaborative relationships between West Midlands Businesses and Universities.

University of Warwick ?Spin-Out? company, Warwick Effect Polymers won the "Best University Spin Out Award" made to the "company able to most clearly demonstrate that it has, or has the potential to, establish itself as a viable, innovative enterprise." The University was also delighted to win the ?Living for Innovation Award? for Innovation Direct (see http://www.innovation-direct.com/) A collaborative ERDF funded project between the Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick and the University of Wolverhampton.

Four of the seven nominations for Achievement in Innovation Award were also from The University of Warwick.

Lord Stafford announced the winners in front of the short listed finalists, business leaders, university representatives and the region's top innovators. Patron of the awards Lord Stafford said, "Once again the standard of entries this year has been very high. There appears to be an increasingly upbeat innovation culture growing across the region.?

"The judging process was very hard. All entries had elements to their applications that shone through. The winners are excellent examples of how a business can extract a universities unique approach to developing new and better ways of doing things.?
