Plans for new WMG Academy go on display at community event

The WMG Academy for Young Engineers is holding an exhibition next week to show the plans for the new building.

The plans will be on display on Wednesday 5 June from 3.30pm until 7.30pm at the Westwood Academy, Mitchell Avenue.

Representatives from the WMG Academy team will be available at the exhibition to discuss the plans and answer questions.

The new academy, which will be built on land adjacent to Westwood Academy, opens to students in September 2014 and will hold its first Taster Event for prospective students on Saturday 29 June 2013 at the University of Warwick.

Named as one of several successful new University Technical College projects in May 2012 by the Department for Education, the WMG Academy will focus on engineering, ICT and digital technologies for young people aged 14-19 from Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.

The Westwood and WMG Academies will remain independent of each other, retaining their own distinct identities and ethos whilst enjoying the benefits of a close working relationship, including the sharing of refurbished dining facilities, sports hall and changing rooms.

Visit www.wmgacademy.org.uk to find out more or to sign up for the Taster Event on Saturday 29 June.
