A University of Warwick student has been named Undergraduate of the Year at a special TARGET jobs and SHL awards ceremony.

Torgyn Shaikhina, a computer and information engineering student, won the IT and Computer Science Undergraduate of the Year Award.

The award, sponsored by BT, was launched to find Britain’s most promising IT students, and involved a rigorous competition, including a series of online tests, written forms, interviews, assessment exercises and a presentation.

Her prize is a summer placement at BT Innovate and Design and a new HP laptop.

Another four Warwick students were invited to the Canary Wharf ceremony after being shortlisted for awards in the 12 categories.

The 21-year-old said: “I am thrilled to have won this award. With so many brilliant candidates, being named the winner is a great honour for me.
I am looking forward to my placement with BT and am really hopeful that it will benefit my future career.
I would like to express my gratitude to the University of Warwick for opening such opportunities for me and many other students."
