Former Cabinet Minister and Labour Party MP Tony Benn has died at the age of 88.

In November 2011, Mr Benn visited the University of Warwick to formally re-open the Modern Records Centre, home to the Trades Union Congress (TUC) archives.

Tony Benn met with University of Warwick Chancellor Sir Richard Lambert and Rodney Bickerstaffe to discuss the 1978/9 Winter of Discontent when workers’ anger over pay settlements led to industrial disputes across the country. They discussed the possibility that the country could return to the season of strikes.
