Charles Mozley studied at Sheffield College of Art and had his first solo exhibition at a gallery in the city in 1933. He taught at Sheffield College of Art for a year and then won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art in London in 1934.

Mozley was one of a number of artists who helped to develop camouflage during the war. After the war his work embraced murals for the Festival of Britain, book illustration, film posters, caricatures and figure studies.
