David Cook

Born 1957, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland.

David Cook trained at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art from 1979-84 and won first prize in the Annual Student Show at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1983. He won a travel award that enabled him to visit Paris, Amsterdam, Belgium and Cyprus. He was the winner of the Royal Scottish Academy Guthrie Award for 1985 and exhibited in The Guthrie Award at the Fine Art Society, Glasgow and Edinburgh in1990. He was also the winner of Scottish Arts Council Awards in 1985, 1988 and 1989 and of the 2nd Prize of the McGregor Donald Sculpture Award in 1990.

Principal exhibitions have been in Edinburgh, notably a solo show at the Traverse Theatre in 1982.
