David Tindle RA

Born 1932, Huddersfield, Yorkshire.

David Tindle trained at Coventry School of Art from 1945-46.  His first retrospective exhibition was at the Herbert Art Gallery in Coventry in 1957.  He taught at Hornsey College of Art from 1959-74 and at the Royal College of Art from 1972-83.  He was made a fellow of the college in 1981.

Exhibitions include John Moores Exhibition Liverpool in 1959 and 1961, a retropsective at Northamption Art Gallery in 1972, British Painting '74 at the Hayward Gallery in London in 1974 and British Painting 1952-77 held at the Royal Academy in London in 1977.

He works in egg tempera and his softly-hued subjects include interiors, still lifes and portraits.

His work is included in the collections of the Tate Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery in London and Manchester City Art Gallery.
