In 1996 George Shaw started to draw and paint scenes of Tile Hill in Coventry where he was born. He walked the streets and pathways near his childhood home taking hundreds of photographs. From these a number were selected and through Shaw's superb draughtsmanship transformed into this series of twelve atmospheric etchings, entitled 'Twelve Short Walks'. Despite no longer living in Tile Hill, Shaw still produces works of the area which convey a sense of nostalgia for his lost childhood.

This series of twelve etchings was purchased for the collection by the Friends of the Mead in 2006.
