In many of his works Clements creates abstracted versions of landscape features and natural forms. In this case he has taken the formal charcteristics of a river delta to create an image which suggests the flowing movement of water towards the sea, choosing a sunset as a means of making a harmonious arrangement of shades and tones from the limited palette of red and blue.
