Eight by Twelve: Print D, Version II by Ian McKeever

Twelve x Eight: Print D, Version II by Ian McKeever

As well as being an acclaimed painter, Ian McKeever is a skilled printmaker working in etching, lithography and woodcut. This work is from a large series of woodcut monoprints made in 1997, twelve of which are in the Tate Britain collection.

Much of McKeever’s work reflects a fascination with capturing the presence and quality of light in paintings, he has lectured and written on the issue, having conducted extensive art historical research. The Eight by Twelve series also explores this theme by creating layered veils of monochrome tone within contrasting abstract structures.

This work was purchased with assistance from the Friends of the Mead, 2004
