Katie Paterson's fascination with the mysteries of the universe has often led to her collaborating with scientists, particularly astronomers and astrophysicists. In 2013 she arranged for a small piece of moon rock to be carried on a commercial satellite orbiting the earth. Travelling at twice the speed of the moon this ‘second moon’ made thirty orbits of the earth between September 2013 and August 2014 and could be tracked on a free app in relation to the user’s position and the position of the actual moon.

This print is an offshoot of the project, capturing two views from the Second Moon app of a partial eclipse between the Earth’s moon and Paterson’s moon.
