Leslie Goodwin

Born: 1929. Nationality: British.

Leslie Goodwin studied painting, drawing and design at Leicester College of Art from 1949-55.

Goodwin began work as a commercial artist at the same time developing his personal work in oils and watercolour, exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy, the Royal West of England Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Oils and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, most recently in 2015 and 2016..

Teaching and lecturing on art became an important part of his career, first in adult education in Leicester and later at Leicester University until he retired in 1994. He also combined lecturing and exhibiting in the USA with coast to coast tours.

Goodwin has regularly published articles on the techniques of painting and has worked for the BBC as art critic.

He was awarded an MBE in the 2000 New Year Honours List.
